I was just writing some web petition software as part of a contract.
Then I thought... Hey, if we all sign a DRs petition, something might happen.

If someone wants to draft up some fancy text saying in effect:
We the undersigned, request that an offline1, private server2, and/or public server be be made available to the public for free or for a reasonable price for the game Dungeon Runners.
      1. A client-local server for single player only.
      2. A client-local server that a few friends can join/be invited to.
      3. A server-server that can support as many players as the operator allows.

This way we might end up with a single-player game, a single player game with invite-friend support (there several other RPGs that allow this), and/or a server app that could be hosted by a community person.
Plus NCSoft would get to sell its old game and/or server software for money, and not have to pay any hosting fees etc (or developers after the software is released).

At the very least, they might offer the server software as-is.

Any thoughts on this?

Im very sorry to say this, but if you want my opinion, I'd say: no chance.

I dont know whether or not Im actually allowed to say this, but what the hell.
After dungeonrunners was blew up by the bomb at NCSoft, a company was found by an unknown amount of ex-DR employees.
The company was made for the intention of buying over DR from ncsoft. There was alot of talking and figuring things out. Eventually, the only thing what was needed was an official answer from NCSoft stating either yes or no versus the proposition made by the company. For some weird reason, the answer was no. Ncsoft went all the way, but at the end said no.

The reason? A vague weird response, stating DR still remains and will remain intellectual property of NCSoft under any condition, they're just not doing anything with it.
I know for one there was quite some money involved in the offer, obvious when you look at the costs DR made back in the days.

With not 1 million USD you will convince ncsoft to open a server, or even give the serverclient away. Chances it will ever get back as it originally was is very small.
If you want DR back, I'd put my hopes up for some insane programmer thats bored and figures to make a serverclient for dungeonrunners.
